Fifth Annual Summer Eclipse Raises Nearly $500,000 For Local Charities

Skender Foundation's annual summer gala raises funds for nonprofit organization promoting education and wellness

Skender Foundation hosted its annual fundraiser, Summer Eclipse, on July 21 at Fremont Chicago. This year’s charity partner and primary benefactor was Bunker Labs, a national not-for-profit organization built by military veteran entrepreneurs to empower other military veterans as leaders in innovation. $30,000 of the money raised by sponsors and attendees will be donated to Bunker Labs, while the rest will be dispersed to various other charities dedicated to education and wellness throughout the course of the year. In the past, Summer Eclipse donations have gone to more than 100 different charity organizations.

"Through local chapters organized in eight different cities, Bunker Labs provides educational programming, mentors, events and thriving local networks to help military veterans start and grow businesses. Funds raised at Summer Eclipse will enable Bunker Labs to continue to provide entrepreneurship support to their growing community of military veterans by improving their curriculum and adding new classes, expanding mentorship opportunities, and connecting businesses with new resources."

"We are so grateful to be this year's recipient and can't thank Skender Foundation enough for its generosity and all that it means for the military veteran entrepreneurs we work with," says Todd Connor, founder of Bunker Labs. "This donation will allow us to continue expanding our program to provide new cohorts of veterans with the training, mentors, and community that they need to succeed as they develop their businesses." To learn more about Bunker Labs, visit
